Washington Grade School Band 1953

I just posted this new photo to my Profile, sent to me by classmate Marcia Peterson of the Washington Grade School Band from 1953. Most of you were in the 5th grade, I believe. The only classmates from my class were on violin. If you didn't choose to play the violin (or your Father forbid it, as was my case) you had to wait a year for another instrument. This is a wonderful photo, so enjoy!

Just a note to tell everyone that they are invited to attend our 50th Class Reunion on August 19th and 20th at The Marina in South Sioux City. We have a terrific Planning Committee who have worked extremely hard to accommodate all the changes Mother Nature has wrought on their efforts. This has become a bit of a tradition with our Class Reunions. Our 40th was interrupted by a tornado in Jackson, NE, disrupting the Friday night event at Stormin' Norman's in Waterbury!

It's been some time since I've been on this site...but I do remember Crusin' the Loop...or as we called it "Scuddin' the Stirp" . Think that may have been a Paul "Ollie" Satherism.

Anyway one nigth a bunch of us...probably Bruce Smith , me, Denny Smith, Dave Munro were in Ollie's car...can't remember what it was but it was an older Modle "A" look like, souped up a bit. We were trying to pick up girls...ran into a car full of girls and Ollie kept talking to them...talking, talking, never getting to point...so they left. We all ragged on Ollie about "not getting to the point". Next car of girs we run into...Ollie blurts out..."you girls interested in getting screwed?" Again they drove away. Today, the response would be much more favorable than back in the late 50's. Anyway we all had a big laugh.

RE: Cruisin' The "Loop"

On April 26th of this year, Denny Potts and I "cruised" the downtown loop, and the Morningside Ave. loop. No, we didn't try to pick up any women.

Times sure have changed, but it brought back a lot of memories of the good times we had back in the day. Potts would have rather been driving his '54 Chevie, and I would have rather been driving my '55 Chevie. Back then we cruised both loops a lot in Clair Horsley's '55 PINK Olds convertable too.
